Karlsruhe Institute of Technology - A Unique Institution with a Dual Mission

The merger of the Technical University of Karlsruhe and Karlsruhe Research Center on October 1, 2009, resulted in today´s Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). It combines the tasks of a university of the state of Baden-Württemberg and those of a research institution of the Helmholtz Association in research, teaching, and innovation. KIT is a public corporation according to the legislation of the state of Baden-Württemberg and is based in Karlsruhe, spread across several locations. Further sites are Dresden, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and Ulm.
