Company Ticket

KIT employees can purchase a company ticket for local public transportation or tickets for the company buses and streetcars. Tickets for a company ticket can be ordered online (either via the website of KVV Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund GmbH (KVV, in German) or via the platform of the Landesamt für Besoldung und Versorgung ("LBV-Portal", in German)), tickets for the company buses and streetcars can be ordered from the Human Resources Business Unit (PSE).

Details on the two JobTickets and the other tickets (ordering procedure, conditions, application forms etc.) as well as the contact details of the contact person at PSE can be found on this website (in German).

JobTicket

KIT employees whose salary is paid via the LBV must order their JobTicket BW via the "LBV-Portal" (in German) in order to receive the subsidy of 25 euros/month from the state of Baden-Württemberg. Due to this subsidy, the KVV grants an increased discount of 12% on the normal price of the annual ticket as well as an "extended take-along regulation".

University employees whose salary is paid directly by KIT can order the JobTicket BW online via the KVV website (in German). The application for a subsidy for the JobTicket BW is only possible for university employees. Further information on the JobTicket BW can be found here (in German).

KIT employees whose salary is paid via the LBV must also order the DB-JobTicket with a current 10% discount via the "LBV-Portal" (in German). Employees whose salary is paid directly by KIT can order the DB-JobTicket via the Deutsche Bahn (DB) website (in German). An application for a subsidy of 20 euros/month for the DB-JobTicket is only possible for university employees. However, a DB-JobTicket is not suitable for business travel, which is subject to the Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund.

Other tickets

For some travel constellations, it is still possible to purchase a monthly ticket or an annual ticket for several zones (depending on how many zones you cross for your journeys to work; two zones must be included for the city of Karlsruhe). The contractual agreements between KIT and KVV include a 10% discount.

With the monthly ticket, a distinction is made between a zone ticket and a route ticket. The zone ticket has the advantage that it can also be used privately at weekends, for example. The route card, on the other hand, is only valid for business journeys between home and work. The route card can be paid for monthly via your salary. An annual travelcard is only available as a zone card. Compared to a monthly travelcard, the respective amount would have to be paid in advance and in one lump sum.
