Academic Education and Examinations

KIT offers more than 100 degree programs in engineering sciences, economics, natural sciences, informatics, social sciences, and humanities. KIT strives to directly incorporate latest research findings in its degree programs.

KIT´s eleven departments are responsible for a concise curriculum and they organize the corresponding examinations. Via their KIT Departments, KIT professors are involved in planning the course contents and examinations. Examinations at KIT are subject to the Studies and Examination Regulations and module handbooks. KIT´s professors hold courses in their subjects, unless they are exempted from teaching obligations (under certain conditions). Teaching obligations are specified by law and depend on the major areas of work of the professors. Details are specified in the Regulation on Teaching Workloads (Lehrverpflichtungsordnung, LVVO, in German only).

In case of questions relating to studies, teaching staff of KIT may contact the Studying and Teaching Business Unit (DE Studium und Lehre, SLE). If you have questions regarding legal aspects of academic education as well as higher education law, contact the Higher Education Law and Academic Affairs Business Unit (DE Hochschulrecht und Akademische Angelegenheiten, HAA, in German only)
