Public Science

With numerous interdisciplinary events and activities, the Studium Generale. Forum Science and Society (FORUM) brings complex research topics for the KIT closer to an interested audience in an understandable form. Central lecture series are: KIT im Rathaus, in which KIT introduces itself to the public with its main research topics; Colloquium Fundamentale, the central lecture series at KIT on current social and scientific topics, on selected Thursdays in the semester; International Forum and Jean Monnet Keynote Lecture as platforms for exchange at KIT with regular lectures; the Karlsruhe Talks as a three-day public and international symposium with lectures, panel discussions, theater, film, readings and concerts. The aim of Public Science is to involve the public in the discussion about new findings and the consequences of scientific activity and to impart the necessary critical knowledge. Conversely, according to the understanding of "science in dialog", questions and impulses from society as a whole should be brought to science and discussed by it. With this objective in mind, cooperation events with all institutes from the divisions of the KIT with the FORUM are always welcome.
