In its umbrella strategy, KIT has declared mobility one of its central fields of research apart from energy and information. The KIT Mobility Systems Center pools current research projects as well as research clusters and alliances of 37 institutes of KIT. Some projects pursued by the KIT Mobility Systems Center will be presented in this issue. For example, KIT scientists focus on drive trains, the underlying technologies of which have to be adapted to future electric mobility. This issue will also address autonomous driving and highlight the opportunities and risks associated with this revolution that has only just started.
